Video Poker is a popular game that can be gambled on in casinos throughout the world, or alternatively at your house on your computer, using a net connection. The rules are very simple and involve the player trying to get the greatest combination of cards achievable in order to win money. In this respect it’s much the same as a normal game of poker, without the interaction with any other players. Of course, tactics employed during a physical game of poker, like bluffing, will be irrelevant here.

The game of Electronic Poker begins when the bettor inserts credits (either tokens, credit slips or cash) into the machine and pushes the draw button. A hand of five cards will be electronically ‘given out’ on the video screen.

The Video Poker game also has buttons with ‘hold’ written on them, and bettors will need to now pick which cards to keep and which to discard. For the cards the bettor would like to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons should be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can choose to keep any amount of cards they want, whether it’s all or none.

After the bettor has decided on which cards she would like to keep, they should press ‘draw’, which will mean that any new cards will be needed they will be handed out. The hand is now finished, with the Electronic Poker machine analyzing the cards to see if it matches any of the winning hands printed on the payment schedule.

Normally, the lowest winning hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money getting larger for each better hand. A list of common winning hands begins with jacks or better, moving on to two pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It is obvious that the pay out schedule can change from machine to machine, so that knowledgeable bettors are agile enough to select the most profitable game each and every time.

After the initial round has played out, the player can either choose to continue on in an attempt to increase their earnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any money that might have been won. Further, a few versions of the game allow the gambler an opportunity to increase their profits, in which case a further hand is played. There are also variations between individual games, with some decks of cards including wild cards and other varying aspects to enhance playability.
